Nursing professionals have been the real heroes in the fight against COVID-19. However, heroism sometimes demands a formidable and superhuman effort, which leads to exhaustion, stress and a series of health problems and occupational hazards for the health professional - in addition to negative impacts on the safety and health of patients. In order to prevent risks for all, optimize workflows and promote rational patient care, science needs to advance, monitor and seek better answers to everyday difficulties. This edition of the Global Academic Nursing Journal is dedicated to studies aimed at improving the management of care for patients and nursing professionals, at such a unique moment.
