During the first weeks of pregnancy there is no morphological sexual differentiation between the male and female genders. For this reason, among geneticists, it is common for us to comment, in a casual tone, that at some point we were all women. There are many layers that surround the female universe. Its hormonal cycles, physiology, psyche, among many other aspects that still constitute an unknown universe to be unveiled, indicating, in a way, the historical lack of studies that specifically explored the health, in its expanded concept, of women. The institutionalization of specialized care for the health of women and pregnant women was achieved through decades of struggles. Therefore, the Global Academic Nursing Journal innovates once again by presenting its first special thematic issue "Women's Health: Gynecology and Obstetrics", addressing this topic of such historical-scientific relevance. The productions of this edition bring important contributions regarding pregnancy, prenatal and maternity in pandemic times, use of drugs during pregnancy, nursing assistance in obstetric emergencies, among many others; certainly a milestone for the field of Women's Health and Obstetrics.
