The challenges faced by the world population in the two and a half years of the COVID-19 pandemic, which have reduced exponentially with the advent of vaccination, are enhanced in May 2022 with the possibility of new developments with locally known pathology, Monkeypox. In Brazil, until September 20, 2022, the total of 6,193 confirmed and probable cases prove the vigilant and immediate character necessary for health services to face this pathology, with a different presentation from COVID-19 and that brings, in addition to the possibility of transmission by droplets or aerosols, transmission by contact. In this sense, we invite the scientific community to reflect on the questions and stigmas that are linked to their forms of transmission that are featured in this edition, along with original and robust articles that exponentially impact the daily practice of health care.
